The Coastal Dress Code: Casual resort wear and swimwear are perfect onboard your yacht, at beach clubs, or during swim stops. When stepping ashore into historic towns, local shops, or inland venues, putting on a shirt, cover-up, and shoes is expected. Airport & Airlines
Tivat Airport (TIV): Located just 10 minutes from Porto Montenegro in Tivat, TIV is the primary and most convenient airport for starting a Montenegrin yacht charter.
Podgorica Airport (TGD): Montenegro's capital airport, located about 1.5 hours inland from the coast.
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV, Croatia): Located just across the border (~45 minutes to 1 hour to Boka Bay), offering extensive international flight options.
Major Airlines: Served by carriers including Air Montenegro, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, and numerous European charter lines
Ground Transfers
Private passenger vans or pre-arranged transfers are highly recommended for a smooth connection from the airport to your marina. Local taxis are available outside airport terminals; they operate on standard rates or meters, and carrying physical cash (Euros) is recommended for taxi fares.

Customs & Immigration
A passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date is required for all foreign visitors. Citizens of the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, and New Zealand do not require a tourist visa for stays up to 90 days.
If your yacht itinerary includes crossing maritime boundaries into neighboring Croatia or Greece, your yacht captain will handle all official vessel clearance and guest passport processing.
Traveling with Children
Any person under the age of majority (depending on destination) is considered a minor. If a minor is traveling alone, with only one parent, or with friends/relatives, they should carry a signed and notarized travel consent letter. The specific rules and cut-offs for minors traveling with or without consent vary depending on the destination and the transportation method.

Cash vs. Cards
Major credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are accepted at luxury resorts, fine dining establishments, beach clubs, and marina boutiques. However, carrying cash (Euros) is essential for small village markets, water taxis, beach vendors, and tipping.
Tipping
Restaurants: Tipping 10% cash for great service at sit-down restaurants is customary and appreciated.
Taxis: Rounding up the fare to the nearest Euro or adding a small tip is standard.
Yacht Gratuity: For luxury crewed yacht charters, an industry-standard tip of 10% to 15% of the base charter fee is customary, scaled based on your satisfaction with the crew's service.
Electrical and Communications
Power
Outlets in Montenegro are standard European Type C and Type F plugs running at 230V / 50Hz. Most modern charter yachts carry universal adapters or onboard transformers to support all guest electronics. Let your broker know in advance if you have medical devices (such as CPAP machines) requiring specific power configurations.
Connectivity
Check with your cellular provider before departing to activate an international roaming plan or day pass.
"Internet speeds can sometimes be weak in certain cruising areas, so it's best to download any important and necessary files ahead of time, such as music and videos. If you plan to use your phone's cellular roaming, you may want to consider purchasing an e-sim, which is usually much less expensive than your phone provider's roaming fees. However, if your ideal vacation involves pleasant warm weather, effortless restaurant bookings, and peaceful cruising through the Bay of Kotor, the months of June and September are widely considered the absolute sweet spot for a Montenegrin yacht charter.
Marine Life:
The sheltered waters of the Bay of Kotor and the open Montenegrin Adriatic host a rich marine ecosystem. While snorkeling in quiet coves along the Luštica Peninsula or Bigova, guests frequently spot octopus, starfish, sea urchins, and friendly schools of sea bream swimming over rocky reefs.
