Here is your quick logistical blueprint.



Travel and Customs


  • Airports: For charters departing from Nassau, you will fly into Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS). For the Out Islands, common airports include Exuma International Airport (GGT) in George Town or North Eleuthera Airport (ELH).

  • Ground Transfers: Taxis are readily available at all major airports, and rideshare apps operate selectively in Nassau. However, for total peace of mind, we highly recommend allowing us to arrange a private vehicle transfer to escort you and your luggage directly to your yacht's marina.

  • Customs & Passports: Valid passports are required for all travelers. U.S., Canadian, UK, and Australian citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays.

    Please ensure your passports are valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.

  • Marinas: Major embarkation docks include Atlantis Marina, Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina, or Palm Cay Marina in Nassau, as well as Highbourne Cay and Staniel Cay Marinas in the Exumas.



Currency


  • Currency: The Bahamian Dollar (BSD) is pegged 1:1 with the U.S. Dollar (USD). Both currencies are accepted interchangeably everywhere across the islands.

  • Cash vs. Cards: Major resorts and restaurants accept credit cards, but cash is absolutely essential in the Out Islands. You will need cash for local straw markets, small beach bars, dockage fees, fresh conch shacks, and crew gratuities.

  • Tipping: A 15% tip is standard in restaurants (always check your bill, as 15% gratuity is frequently auto-included). For luxury crewed charters, an industry-standard tip of 15% to 20% of the base charter fee is customary for excellent service, presented to the Captain in cash at the end of the week.



Electrical and Communications


  • Power: Outlets in The Bahamas are identical to the United States and Canada: standard Type A and Type B plugs (120V). Your yacht will feature standard power sockets, so North American travelers do not need adapters.

  • Connectivity:

    While cell signals are strong near Nassau, coverage can become weak or non-existent when anchored out in the remote cays of the Exumas. We recommend downloading music, movies, and important files before you step onboard. Turn off automatic cellular photo syncing, and consider an e-sim from Airalo (use code TCYC9670 for a $3 credit) for seamless data roaming.


Weather


  • November – April: The peak winter season. Beautifully sunny and comfortable, with daily highs ranging from 75°F to 80°F (24°C–27°C). Evenings can be crisp, making it perfect sleeping weather.

  • May – July: Warm, calm, and gorgeous. Temperatures rise to around 85°F–88°F (29°C–31°C). This is the absolute best time for glassy, flat water—ideal for snorkeling, paddleboarding, and enjoying the yacht's water toys.

  • August – October: Late summer is tropical and quiet. While this is peak Atlantic hurricane season, yachts are highly mobile, and your Captain will monitor weather patterns precisely to keep your itinerary safe and sunshine-filled.



Packing Tips


  • Comfortable Footwear for Sand and Shallows: The Bahamas is defined by its endless, shallow sandbars and low-lying limestone cays. Bring supportive sandals or water shoes that can easily transition from a wet tender ride to walking on shore.

  • Light Evening Layers: Because winter nights and air-conditioned cabins can get chilly, pack a light jacket, windbreaker, or a comfortable sweatshirt for stargazing on deck.

  • Sun Protection & Rash Guards: The sun reflecting off the white sand and turquoise water is intense. Bring plenty of reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and a long-sleeve UV rash guard for long days of snorkeling.
