From Wanderlust to My Life’s Work: The Charter Yacht Company Origins

Every time I return to the British Virgin Islands, I am reminded of how my life forever changed the moment I first arrived here in the mid 90s. What started as just a wanderlust woman in my 20s has become a lifelong passion and career.

A Love Affair with the Sea

I still vividly remember the first time I put on a mask and snorkel and discovered a whole other world underwater. The coral reefs were like a masterpiece of colors, patterns, and textures that I never knew existed. Within a short time, I was scuba diving and learning everything I could about marine biology.

Magical Moments

Combining my love for boating, the water, and the natural environment felt too good to be true. I did not just fall in love with the destination; I fell in love with the Charter Yacht industry, the community, and hosting travelers on the yachts I worked on. I love pampering my guests with fine dining and relaxation, tailoring the best itineraries, and introducing people to all the natural beauty and magical moments you experience on a Charter Yacht vacation.

A New Chapter: The BVI Births a Boy and a Business

At 29, life presented me with a new voyage as I became pregnant with my son. I left my job as a first mate and chef on Charter Yachts, but I knew I wanted to stay in the Charter Yacht industry while creating a life where I could raise my child. That was the beginning of The Charter Yacht Company.

I realized that my decade of experience living and working as crew gave me a unique perspective. I understood the vital importance of matching guests with the right boat and the right crew. I also knew intimately what makes a good crew. I wanted to use that knowledge to help others experience the magic of a Charter Yacht vacation.

Reputation and Expansion

Now, 22 years later, my son has grown into a man, and The Charter Yacht Company has grown from a passion to a trusted name for those seeking Charter Yacht vacations worldwide. My company’s roots may have started in the Caribbean, but my team's expertise now spans destinations around the globe and the yachts and crew that charter in those waters.

Building Relationships

Over the past 22 years, I have built some wonderful relationships with clients, colleagues, crew and yacht owners. I take such pride in arranging their Charter Yacht vacations and so much joy in hearing the wonderful experiences they have. I am also learning that I love building and supporting my team at The Charter Yacht Company and watching them learn, build relationships, and succeed.
