A charter yacht vacation in Alaska is an unparalleled way to explore the "Last Frontier," offering a unique blend of luxury and raw natural beauty. Unlike a large cruise, a private yacht provides exclusive access to secluded coves and narrow fjords, giving you an intimate experience with the region's breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife. The journey is fully customizable, with a dedicated crew and chef who tailor the itinerary to your preferences, whether you're interested in fishing for king salmon, spotting bears and whales, or simply relaxing amid the stunning scenery. You can spend your days kayaking, hiking to hot springs, and exploring charming coastal towns, returning each evening to the comfort and privacy of your yacht for a gourmet meal. It’s more than just a trip; it's a personalized, transformative adventure that connects you with nature and creates lasting memories.
Day 1: Embarking in Sitka Your charter yacht vacation begins in the historic town of Sitka. Once settled, you'll cruise to a secluded cove near Sitka, perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding among the quiet inlets. As you enjoy cocktails on the deck, your chef will prepare your first gourmet dinner on board.
Day 2: Exploring Baranof Island & Hot Springs After a morning cruise along the rugged coastline of Baranof Island, you'll anchor near some natural hot springs. You can choose to hike to the springs for a relaxing soak, or take the yacht's tender to explore the shoreline. Keep an eye out for brown bears, which are often spotted in this area. Fishing enthusiasts can spend the afternoon trying their luck at salmon or halibut fishing. For wildlife lovers, we can spend more time cruising the coastline for optimal whale and bear sightings.
Day 3: Tracy Arm Fjord & Glaciers Today, you'll cruise into the dramatic Tracy Arm Fjord, a narrow waterway flanked by towering granite cliffs and waterfalls. Your captain will navigate the ice-filled waters to get you as close as possible to the magnificent South Sawyer Glacier and North Sawyer Glacier, where you'll hear the thunderous sound of calving ice. For a more active day, we can arrange a guided shore excursion for a hike with incredible glacier views. If you're interested in marine life, you can spend the day searching for seals, sea lions, and migrating humpback whales.
Day 4: Juneau and the Mendenhall Glacier Spend the day exploring Juneau, Alaska's capital city. Visit the Mendenhall Glacier, accessible from the city, or take a scenic helicopter tour for a bird's-eye view of the icefields. In the evening, you'll anchor in a quiet bay nearby. If your group is interested in fishing, you can enjoy a fishing excursion for King Salmon.
Day 5: Cruising Icy Strait Point Cruise through the Icy Strait, a prime location for wildlife viewing. Your captain will seek out areas known for large pods of humpback whales, orcas, and porpoises. You can also explore the historic canneries and Tlingit culture at Icy Strait Point. Enjoy some kayaking or paddle boarding in a calm cove while the crew prepares a beach bonfire.
Day 6: Glacier Bay National Park Today, you'll enter the pristine waters of Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your captain will navigate the bay, offering unparalleled views of tidewater glaciers and an abundance of wildlife, including bears, mountain goats, and bald eagles. A National Park Ranger will come on board to provide a unique and educational experience.
Day 7: Farewell Feast in Gustavus Enjoy a final morning cruise to the charming town of Gustavus. A final fishing trip in the morning can be arranged for those who want one last chance to catch an Alaskan salmon. Take a walk along the quiet streets before returning to the yacht for a farewell feast prepared by your chef, celebrating the incredible week you've had.
